Bridget wins Carer of the Year Award at the CDC Community Awards 2018

We are so proud of Bridget, our Befriending and Carer Respite Manager! Bridget has been awarded the prize of £1,000 for winning the Carer of the Year Award at the recent Cotswold District Council Chairman’s Community Awards 2018. The awards ceremony featured presentations in seven different categories and three people were shortlisted in each. The Carer of the Year Award was sponsored by Badham Pharmacy. Bridget was nominated for the award by one of our volunteers who Bridget helped when she returned home with little support after a spell in hospital.

We had a chat with Bridget about her night out:

.Tell us about the evening?
“It was the most beautiful evening in a lovely setting at the Royal Agricultural University. We were in the Banquet Hall and there was lovely food and lovely company. It turned out that I was sat next to the person who presented me with my award but I didn’t know that at the time!” How did you feel about being nominated for this award? “It’s actually quite humbling to think that someone would be grateful enough to nominate you…to actually be awarded for something that you would do for anybody.” Do you think the awards are a good idea? “Well, they bring to the forefront that there are people out there with good intentions, doing small things to the real benefit of others.” Any ideas what you are going to do with your prize money? “You will probably laugh but after my recent ankle injury, I am looking for a more lightweight hoover and have decided to treat myself to a very expensive new cordless Dyson!”

Well done Bridget - from all at Cotswold Friends.
