Men in Sheds

Bourton-on-the-Water “Shedders” recently celebrated a successful year of opening with over 30 members and a planned move underway to larger premises, at the Royal British Legion site in the heart of Bourton.

Members use and share valuable practical skills to work on both community and individual projects, but the real value of the shed is the uplifting camaraderie and peer support that the shed environment provides to the men who attend. Many Shedders are experiencing bereavement, poor health or loneliness. We are delighted to announce that the Moreton Men-in-Sheds project is now underway, with a donated portacabin sited on the Moreton University allotment site, and supported by Moreton Town Council. If you would like to get involved, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

The Bourton Men-in-Sheds group have recently been featured in the television programme Countryfile Summer Diaries. The short film highlights the issues facing men affected by loneliness or isolation in a rural area. To view the film on the BBC iplayer please click the link here. The piece begins at 10mins and 40 secs.
