McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Hawkesbury Place Retirement Living Plus development on Fosseway in Stow-on-the-Wold, has pledged its support to Cotswold Friends with a £500 donation.

The donation from McCarthy & Stone will help towards the insurance and promotion costs of the charity’s Community Transport Service, supporting its ongoing work in transporting older and vulnerable members of the community. The Community Transport service helps to fill the gaps left by public transport in the North Cotswolds, providing residents with journeys for both medical and social appointments.

Joanna Hammond, Marketing Manager at Cotswold Friends and Julie Mitchell, Transport Manager, were presented with a cheque for £500 by Shelly Morewood, sales executive for McCarthy and Stone.

Joanna Hammond commented: “Cotswold Friends is extremely grateful to McCarthy and Stone for this donation which will help us continue our valuable work combatting loneliness and isolation amongst older and more vulnerable people in our community. We are constantly looking for ways to spread the word so that we can support even more people who have difficulties getting out and about. The Community Transport Service is a lifeline for many, who would otherwise be unable to access local services.”
