Weston - Out making a difference for Wheelchair Users

West Oxfordshire Wheelchair Dance (WOWD) Community Transport Member Liz Tame has been getting out and about in Weston to the Wheelchair Dance classes held each week at Cotswold Leisure Bourton. Liz attended the class for the first time in October 2019 and enjoyed herself so much she has continued to attend on a regular basis. Founder and instructor of WOWD Lizzie Large told us, “From my perspective it’s about the journey that people come on…., the health, the social, the fitness, the fun, the enjoyment and just really being able to express themselves. For dancing, as we know, the research out there is phenomenal around your mental health and physical health and that doesn’t change in a wheelchair. Dancing encourages better posture, opens up the lungs, helps with breathing and digestion and for those people that are in a chair day in and day out, actually those are really positive benefits.”
