Have you got green fingers?

Have you got green fingers?

Our new Community Garden at Stow Surgery needs volunteers! Can you help us get things growing?

We’re developing a Community Garden behind Stow Surgery for surgery patients and local older residents to use, with the support of generous funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Cotswold District Council.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to help create the Community Garden, which will include raised beds of flowers, herbs and vegetables, accessible paths, seating and a sheltered area.

The photo above shows how the empty outdoor space behind the Surgery looks at the moment, with accessibility ramps installed ready for the gardening work to begin!

We want the garden to be a pleasant open space where people can enjoy nature’s beauty, and it will provide the opportunity for our older clients, and those referred by Stow Surgery, to take part in gentle gardening activity and outdoor exercise sessions e.g. Tai Chi or seated yoga.

As the garden project develops, it will help to support people’s wellbeing and, by simply spending time there with others, provide companionship for people too.

If you have a few hours a week to spare and you have some more experienced gardening skills to help develop the garden as a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Manager, Sheryl, on 01608 697007 or email [email protected]. Sheryl would love to hear from you!
