Tour de Friends Ride 10 – Tales of the Guiting Power Loop

My friend Alison was along with me again today. The Guitings have lots of hills so we could get up them together hopefully! We set off from Guiting Power and passed the North Cotswold Foodbank on the way out of the village – more of them later as I return for a visit on the way back.

We only have a small number of Community Transport clients in this area, so if anyone reads this who might need some help and support to get out and about, please do get in touch.

We also need more volunteer drivers if you have an hour or two a week to spare?

We passed The Old Post Office at Guiting which reminded me of when a brilliant team of sewing ladies were making hundreds of low cost fabric masks for Cotswold Friends to distribute during the worst of the pandemic, and The Old Post Office helped to get them out to local people – what an awful time when we look back – and such a lasting impact on so many people’s lives.

Strange Halloween structure at Upper Slaughter!

Villages to make our round today included Cold Aston, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Naunton and Notgrove. There was a quite incredible Halloween sculpture at Upper Slaughter (see pic!). Back to the North Cotswold Foodbank – called in and chatted to the amazing team there, who had been busy all morning picking and packing up food boxes for those in need. Dean chatted to us about the incredible work that they do. Cotswold Friends can now give out Foodbank Vouchers from our offices in Moreton-in-Marsh and there are food distribution points in our area at Moreton, Stow, Bourton and Campden – see https://northcotswold.foodbank.org.uk/locations/ to find out more.
