New Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Launched to Cirencester
Cotswold Friends is delighted to announce the launch of a new Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), strengthening our community transport services for people living in and around the Cirencester area.
This new vehicle will help ensure that local residents who use wheelchairs can access safe, reliable and accessible transport, supporting greater independence and connection across the community. From attending medical appointments to taking part in social activities and community groups, accessible transport plays a vital role in helping people stay active and involved in everyday life.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons for Gloucestershire and Herefordshire for their generous contribution towards the vehicle branding, and to the Mark Benevolent Fund, whose support has enabled us to purchase the vehicle. Their generosity has made a meaningful and lasting impact on our ability to deliver inclusive transport services in Cirencester and the surrounding rural areas.
The new WAV will operate as part of our volunteer-led community transport service, helping to reduce isolation and remove barriers for older people and those with mobility challenges. In a largely rural area like the Cotswolds, access to accessible transport can make the difference between staying connected or becoming isolated.
Our services are made possible by the dedication of our volunteer drivers, who give their time to help keep people moving and connected. As demand for community transport continues to grow across the Cirencester area, we are always keen to hear from anyone interested in volunteering and supporting this vital local service.
This new vehicle represents an important step forward in improving accessibility, independence and wellbeing for people in our community. We’re proud to continue working alongside local partners, funders and volunteers to ensure everyone has the opportunity to stay connected and supported.
